Nubi

Privacy

You are handing us a recording of your voice telling your child a story. We treat that as the most sensitive thing on our servers, because it is.

The short version
We never use your recordings to train a voice model, ours or anyone else's.
We never sell anything to anyone, and there is no advertising in Nubi.
You can use Nubi without an account, an email or a name.
Delete a story and the audio goes with it, for good, within 30 days.

Your recordings

Your recording is uploaded, transcribed, and kept so the story can be read back in your voice. It stays as the single audio file you made; we do not clone your voice, synthesise new speech from it, or use it to improve any model. It is not listened to by us except when you ask for help with a specific story and say so in writing.

Transcription happens on a processing service under contract, which may not keep or reuse the audio. The written story and the picture prompts go to an illustration service. Neither receives your name, your email or your device identifier.

Your child

Nubi is for parents, not children — the account, the payment and the recording are all yours. A child’s first name usually appears in the story because you said it out loud. We ask for nothing else about them: no age, no birthday, no photograph, no school. Nothing about a child is ever used to target anything, because nothing here is targeted at all.

What we collect

A random device idMade on your phone the first time you record, stored in the iCloud keychain. It is how your shelf finds you. It is not linked to your Apple ID or your name.
Your storiesAudio, text, pages and pictures.
An email, only if you give oneUsed to sign you in on a second phone and nothing else. Never a newsletter you did not ask for.
Crash and usage countsAggregate numbers — how often stories fail to generate, how long a wait takes. No story content, ever.

Payment is handled by Apple. We never see your card; we only see whether a subscription is active.

Keeping and deleting

Stories stay until you delete them — cancelling a subscription never removes anything. Deleting a story removes the audio, the text and the pictures from our storage and from backups within 30 days. Deleting everything, from Settings, ends the account outright and there is no recovery afterwards, which is the point.

Who else touches it

Hosting and database, transcription, illustration, notification delivery, and Apple for payment. Each is under contract, each gets the least it needs to do its job, and none may keep your content for their own purposes. If that list changes we say so here before it takes effect.
